Supporting Affidavit, Petition of Richard Porter:

I John Edmunds of lawful age of the county aforesaid, do hereby certify that Jacob & Moses late the property of Richard Porter of the county aforesaid, confessed in my presence, that they were engaged in the late insurrection in this county, that they [?] themselves to me, [?] afterward given up to a company of armed men from the state of North Carolina who were at that time in this county, engaged in suppressing the insurrection and by them shot. – The said negroes I suppose to have been worth Four hundred dollars, cash. – One of said negroes I suppose to have been about eighteen, the other Twenty Three or four years of age. –
